I’m getting back into the swing of things again starting tomorrow, and I should have Final Fantasy IX beat by tomorrow night, so expect much <3s.

Oh, and since I didn’t say this previously, <3 Beatrix.

Not much to report this time around <gwok>, other than the fact that I now have nearly 20 hours <gwok> devoted to <gwok> Final Fantasy IX.  The story is <gwok> getting more and more interesting, especially since the characters <gwok> are all “lolwut” while I’m like “I know what’s up! <gwok>”  Yay for dramatic irony <gwok>!

Yeah, I’m done talking like a goddamn oglop.

Oh!  I found something else I don’t like that I forgot to mention before!  I can’t stand Quina.  S/he is so annoying to me, and I think it’s pretty obvious why.  S/he keeps disappearing and I get all happy, and then S/he shows back up and I’m like, “…Damn…”

And I think that’s it for this post.

I also find Tetra Master strangely addicting, despite the fact that it’s pretty random.   I prefer the card game from Final Fantasy VIII more, but my point still stands.  I just finished racing Hippaul before I decided to call it a night, actually.  And let me tell you, mashing Square and Circle over and over again starts to wear out the arm.  To complete the Hippaul racing mini-game, you must mash Square and Circle alternatively as quickly as possible until Vivi finishes the race.  This isn’t bad until you hit Level 50, since Hippaul starts at Level 1 and that increments by 5 every time you beat him until you hit Level… I think it was 55.  After that, it goes up one by one, until you finally achieve a Key Item for getting to Level 80.  So that’s 12 races to 55, then 25 more from there to get to 80.  37 button mashing sets?  Ouch.

Besides that though, I’m surprised that I’m still in the mid-20′s for levels.  I suppose I could change that quite quickly by grinding, but so far nothing has been too difficult to handle.  And it’s not like I’m lacking in spells or anything; Vivi has all of the Black magic available thus far, and Dagger has all of the White magic available thus far.

That’s about it.  The next update will probably when I get to Disc 4.  Oh, and I forgot to check to see how much time I have logged, but I’m assuming it’s right around 12-13 hours.

Anyways, last night I finished up the first disc of Final Fantasy IX and played a little bit into disc two.  So far I have about 7 hours of gameplay logged, about 30 minutes of which was me just playing Tetra Master. I was actually surprised at how short the first disc was; I remember it being a lot longer.  Then again, I was 11 when I played through it before, so it may just be that.

I’ll be the first to admit that I absolutely hated Final Fantasy IX before, but I couldn’t put my finger on why.  So far the story is engaging enough for me to be interested, and I’m finding that while each character is entirely predictable, I don’t dislike them.  I’ve never been one of those people who is all like, “OMG I can’t stand turn-based fighting!”, either, so I have no problems with the battle system itself.  So far one of my main problems is the fact that Phoenix Downs have only restored at MOST 7 HP when used, which is a little bit ridiculous.  I have, however, found my main qualm I had with the game before.  The graphics.

Don’t get me wrong, the world itself and the environments are absolutely amazing, especially for a PS1-era RPG.  But I just don’t like the styling of the characters.  I’m mature enough though to not let that impede the gameplay itself.  But it’s definitely going to be a lingering issue throughout my entire play-through.

And yeah, that’s about it.  I think I’m gonna get something to eat and then spend the rest of the day playing to see how far I can get.

Actually, I have something else that will be occupying my time for the next… however long it takes me to complete it.  You see, I was thinking a few days ago, “There really aren’t that many good RPGs that have come out lately.  I remember back on the original Playstation there were a LOT of RPGs.”  And then it hit me.  I decided I was going to get as many Playstation RPGs as I could.  And I was going to beat every single one of them.  Oh, and I was going to try and give a quality review of each game upon completion.

So here I am, a few days later, and I’ve finally made my first post on this blog.  I would have made this as soon as I started, but, well…  My time was spent playing Front Mission 3, the first RPG of many.  Actually, I think I’ll put a quick little list of the games I’m going to be playing up.  And, since I’m lazy, it will be a screenshot of my folder.  Let’s just say, for legality’s sake, I own every one of those games and the files you see are backups.  If I’m missing any games you think should be on that list, let me know!  I’ll probably add them to the list.

Along with reviews of each and every game on that list, I will be making daily posts about my progress, and I may even throw up some non-RPG related things, such as upcoming games that I’m looking forward to.  I don’t think that’ll be too often, but hey, I don’t know for sure yet.  Also, I’m going to be keeping my own personal timer to see how much time I’ve been able to waste by doing this.  So, to set the bar for consistency, here we go.  Oh, and Front Mission 3 has been completed.
